Sports Wall Décor: Colors Your Friends Impressed With
Whether you’re creating the ultimate “man’s room” or adding stylish décor to your game room, sports wall décor is the perfect place to start when deciding on color. But before you head to the local hardware for a few gallons of paint, find the piece or pieces of sports wall décor around which your entire design scheme will be built. Your choice of colors will determine the room you end up with, and the sports posters you hang will provide not only your primary choices, but your complementary colors as well. Here’s an example:
You want to build the ultimate game room that pays tribute to your favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. You’ve already found three life-size posters of your all-time favorite players, and each will be the featured artwork on one of three walls. Naturally, you’re planning a black, yellow and white color scheme to match the Steelers’ colors.
Now, look more closely at the posters. Check Franco Harris’ helmet. Notice the red, blue and yellow diamonds on the Steelers’ logo. Eureka! There are your accent colors. Find a subtle way to add red or blue to your paint plans and see how your entire room comes together.
Designer Tip: A few more words about color: paint stores can scan and match any color sample you supply them. Take in samples to get exact matches. Yes, that means hauling that huge poster with you, if need be.
